Fine print – Slingshot Organizer Mobile Application Privacy Policy

The Long Haul (dba Slingshot Collective) (hereafter “Slingshot”) values your privacy and the Slingshot Organizer Mobile Application (hereafter the “Application”) was designed to protect your personal information.  This document outlines exactly how the application accesses and uses your personal information.

In order to function, the Application needs access to the Google accounts registered on your mobile device and the list of calendars associated with those accounts.  You will be prompted to explicitly allow this access the first time you use the Application.  You may choose to deny access to certain accounts, in which case the Application will not access data from those accounts.

The Application will also ask you for access to your “Contacts”.  Please note, the Application will not and cannot access your contacts or any information related to them.  This prompt is the mechanism by which the Android operating system requests permission from you for the Application to access the names of the Google accounts on your device.  You can verify that the Application does not have access to your contacts by examining the “Permissions” requested by the Application in its listing on the Google Play Store.  This confusing nomenclature will be addressed in future versions of the Android operating system but is out of the control of Slingshot.

The information stored online in your Google Calendar accounts will be accessed by the Application.  This information will be displayed on your device’s screen and stored on your mobile device to allow for access when your device is not connected to the Internet.  Any information you create through the app will also be stored on your device and transmitted to Google for storage in your Google Calendar accounts online.  The above-mentioned data transfers between Google and your device happen via the Google Calendar API (see https://developers.google.com/google-apps/calendar/overview).

Some information entered by the Application, such as settings and menstrual calendar information, are stored locally on the device and not transmitted to any party.

No information accessed or stored by the Application is ever sent to Slingshot, other applications, or a third-party.  The only network transfer of data from the Application occurs between your device and Google and is done strictly using the Google Calendar API.
